What is Integral Eye Movement
Integral eye movement therapy (IEMT) is a therapeutic model designed to significantly reduce intense negative emotions. Eye movements are used to facilitate the processing of negatively charged memories, thus calming the electrical activity of the nervous system. IEMT has, therefore, been shown to be particularly effective for anyone experiencing chronic anxiety, insomnia, or who has suffered trauma.
When used skilfully it can result in significant emotional transformation and behavioural change. It is not intended to be a standalone treatment but works well alongside traditional therapeutic models, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Schema therapy. Recent clinical studies on the impact IEMT has on the brain and chronic skins conditions can be found here and here. |
